Driving from the North
BY CAR COMING FROM THE NORTH (STEENWIJK) VIA THE N334 (BEULAKERWEG):
- You drive past the exit “Giethoorn-Noord”.
- After approximately 1.0 km (past the new housing area on your left) you will see a left turn.
- Take the exit “Giethoorn-Middenbuurt”. This road is called “De Deukten”.
- Follow this road (De Deukten) for about 1.0 km until you reach a right-hand turn, also signposted “Giethoorn-Middenbuurt”. Take this right turn.
- Follow this road (De Deukten) all the way to the end.
- At the T-junction turn right onto the Kerkweg.
- Follow this narrow road (Kerkweg) all the way to the end. Drive slowly — many pedestrians walk along this narrow road.
- After about 400 metres the road bends slightly to the right, and you will temporarily not see water on your left-hand side.
- After about another 200 metres you will see a small free municipal parking area on your right — this is often full.
- Continue for another approx. 200 metres to the very end of the road (on your left the Dorpsgracht canal appears again).
- The road ends at a small wooden footbridge, about 1 metre wide. This is where the Binnenpad pedestrian zone begins.
- On the right you will see a large parking area. Park your car here and walk back to the wooden bridge (where you stopped with your car).
- Cross this small bridge and follow the pedestrian/cycle path (the Binnenpad).
- After 50 metres you will see “Broer Botenverhuur”, Binnenpad 16, on your right (a large black boathouse).
END: This is your destination if you have booked with Broer Botenverhuur.
If you would like something to eat or drink first, walk a little further to our second location “Recreatiebedrijf Geythorn”, only 200 metres further on the right side.
CONTINUE: If you have booked at Recreatiebedrijf Geythorn, Binnenpad 42, walk 200 metres further.
- Follow the path; after 100 metres you will see “De Oude Aarde” museum across the water on your left. Keep following the path.
- After another 100 metres you will see “Recreatiebedrijf Geythorn” on your right (large terrace / parasols / flags).
END: This is your destination if you have booked with Recreatiebedrijf Geythorn or if you wish to start your day with a coffee or a snack.
